OUR VISION:
West Rockhill Township is a friendly, vibrant, prosperous Township where history and creativity build an enduring, safe and healthy community for people of all ages to live, learn, work, play, or grow a business.
OUR MISSION:
The unique character of West Rockhill is preserved and enhanced through responsibly serving residents, visitors, and the business community with integrity and innovation.
The West Rockhill Township Board of Supervisors announces that during its public meeting on May 20th, the Board will consider introducing and authorizing the advertisement of a second, more comprehensive zoning ordinance amendment to establish more regulations for data centers.
This legislative action aims to strengthen the Township’s regulatory framework, ensuring that any future Data Centers are held to the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.
Public Access and Legal Constraints
Should the Board authorize the advertisement on May 20th, the proposed ordinance will be made available to the public the following day. Under Pennsylvania law, if a zoning ordinance amendment undergoes substantial changes after it is introduced and advertised (because of, for example, public comment and/or Board discussion at a public meeting), it cannot be adopted with those changes unless it is re-advertised at least 10 days in advance of when it will be considered for adoption.
Because this statutory requirement can make the refinement process feel compressed, the Board is proactively looking toward the future. To ensure improvement and community integration, the Board will also consider the formation of a West Rockhill Citizens Board. This group will be tasked with crafting "Version 3" of the Data Center ordinance, allowing for a collaborative, long-term approach to refining these regulations.
Current Application Status
The Township wishes to clarify that there are currently no pending applications for data centers facilities within West Rockhill Township. These legislative steps are purely preemptive to ensure the Township is prepared with robust protections. It is illegal for townships to enact a ban or place a moratorium on any particular use. If a particular use is not regulated by a township’s zoning ordinance, anybody wanting to establish that use in the township can do so without restrictions. This is why the Township feels it is important to quickly but thoroughly establish the best and most comprehensive set of regulations which are legally permissible.
Meeting Logistics and Resident Priority
Given the regional and national interest in data center regulation, the Township anticipates a well-attended meeting. While public interest is welcomed, the Board’s primary responsibility is to the people of West Rockhill.
We respectfully ask that individuals residing outside the borders of West Rockhill Township allow our local residents to have priority seating in the meeting room. It is essential that those directly impacted by local legislation have the first opportunity to participate in the proceedings.
Township Statement
"West Rockhill Township firmly believes that data centers need to be regulated and set to the highest standards to protect the community and natural resources of West Rockhill Township,"
From the Desk of Chief Dickinson:
We are proud to announce that on Thursday, April 23, 2026 the Pennridge Regional Police Department officially achieved accredited status through the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association Accreditation Program.
Chief Dickinson, along with Sgt. Pedro Ruiz and the Township Managers of East and West Rockhill attended the PLEAC Committee meeting in Harrisburg where the committee approved the department to receive this accomplishment. This distinction reflects our department’s ongoing commitment to professionalism, accountability, and excellence in law enforcement.
To earn accreditation, agencies must undergo a rigorous process that includes the development and implementation of comprehensive policies and procedures, compliance with over 130 recognized best-practice standards, and a thorough on-site assessment conducted by independent evaluators. Accreditation also requires demonstrated adherence to standards in areas such as use of force, training, evidence handling, community relations, and administrative operations. Departments must not only meet these benchmarks but also maintain them through periodic reviews and re-accreditation.
This achievement represents the dedication and hard work of our officers and staff in providing the highest level of service to our community. We thank our residents for their continued trust and support, as well as the Township Supervisors of East and West Rockhill Township.
